NT:
Eph 2:4-10
Gospel:
Jn 3:14-21
Point to Ponder
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). But, Jesus died on the cross (in our place) for our sins and our salvation. That is the grace of God in action – giving us the greatest gift we can ever receive from anybody.
We receive the grace of his redemption through faith. Faith consists of : KNOWING that Christ died for all of us as written in the Holy Scriptures; BELIEVING that we are included in that act of sacrifice on our behalf; and TRUSTING Him for complete forgiveness when we repent.
“There’s nothing more that I can do, for Jesus did it all.”
But we are also saved for a higher purpose : “created in Christ Jesus to do good works” Eph 2:10. Lent reminds us that we need to come before God to be cleansed of all sin and unrighteousness, so that we can go out, renewed by his Holy Spirit, to fulfill his mission in this world.
May your Lenten experience bring out both perspectives and obligations.
