Meet the girls from St Matthew's
Linsay (12), Kalin (12) and Tammy (17) were some of the over 100 participants at the Cape Town Diocese Fun Day at the Zonnebloem Estate. They all worship at St Matthews in Claremont and enjoy dancing (you guessed?).
NEWS
Cape Town Diocese Fun Day was held at Zonnebloem yesterday (18th Feb) and was attended by over 100 young people. The Parishes formed teams who competed against each other for the coveted trophy.
Here we see instructions being belted out and the tug-o-war being fought.
---ooo--- This coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and marks the start of Lent the forty days (excluding Sundays) that precede Easter. This is a time of preparation for Easter, and is marked by penitence and consideration of the meaning of Christian Discipleship. It is also characterised by fasting and giving up of certain pleasures and luxuries. Lent will end with the observance of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter eve.

PRAYERS
Father of everlasting compassion, you see your children growing up in an uncertain and confusing world: show them the path of life, enable them to triumph over failure and frustration to hold fast their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. (APB p89)
---ooo--- Please pray for Elliot Masoka who travels from PE to Namibia today. He will be meeting with the Bishop of Namibia as well as with members of the Guild of St Bernard Mizeki.
---ooo--- Please pray for the President of PYC, Nonhlanhla Shezi, as she undergoes tests in hospital. We trust God for his perfect will to be done.
Sunday Scripture
19 Feb 2012 - Seventh Sunday of the Year.
OT:
Is. 43:18-25
PS:
41
NT:
2 Cor 1:18-22
Gospel:
Mk 2:1-12
Point to Ponder
We are all sinners (Rom 3:23) and have disobeyed God and strayed from His ways. We cannot save and cleanse ourselves, we need someone to do that for us (a saviour). God, through Jesus, is able to remove our sins (Is. 43:25) and to make us right with him again (righteous). Our sins must be forgiven so that healing can take place (Mk 2). Lent affords us another opportunity to come to Jesus in penitence and repentance so that we can receive his forgiveness and fulfil His discipleship mission in this world.
