The Sunday of the Passion
The Sunday of the Passion
Palm Sunday marks the celebration of Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people greeted and praised him by waving palm branches. You can read about it in Matt 21:1-11, Mk 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44 and Jn 12:12-19.

Sunday Scripture
1 April 2012 – Palm Sunday
OT: Is 50:4-9a
PS: 31:9-16
NT: Phil 2:5-11
Gospel: Mk 14:1-15:47 or Mk 15:1-39
Point to Ponder
“Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest!” Mark 11:9,10.

The crowds that were following Jesus must have been reminded of blind Bartimaeus’s cries just shortly before he was healed by Jesus.
Now they were acknowledging him, who was of the line of David, as their king who will usher in a new era of rule under his lordship.
But, his journey to his crowning glory would be paved with sorrow and pain and ultimately, a humiliating death on a cross – for our sins and the sins of the world.
May we, the crowds that are following Jesus, remain faithful to the end, so that we can also rise in triumph with him.
